THE SHROUD OF TURIN
The shroud of turin is a length of linen cloth bearing a negative image of a man ( who is said to be jesus).The size of this shroud is said to be: 4.4×1.1m. The present location of this shroud is at the cathedral of saint John the Baptist , Turin, Italy. The distinctive characteristic is the faint , brownish image of a front and back view of a naked man with his hands folded across his groin. Some critics point out that it may not be a shroud at all. First instance was in 1353 or 1357 and first certain record in 1390 when bishop pierre d'Arcis wrote a memorandum to pope clement stating that shroud was forgery and the artist had confessed. Shroud has been displayed since the 17th century. In 1532 , the shroud suffered damage from a fire in a chapel of chambery. Poor clave nuns attempted to repair damages with patches.
